What is wrong with my foot?
I have been experiencing pain on my left foot. The pain started in late march '08. It came on gradually towards the end of a work out involving jumping, lunges, etc. The pain was at first on the inside of the lower ankle. Gradually the pain moved to the top inside part of my foot, above my big toe. I had trouble walking and running. I had an X-ray, and it showed nothing. I rested and iced. Then in may the pain left and I was able to play a full summer of baseball pain free. In late august I began running alot more to prepare for college baseball. The pain was again on the inside top part of my foot. It seemed to hurt most at the begining of workouts and then feel better as the workout continued. I have recently been expierencing pain on the outside part of my foot, near my ankle. I develope swelling in this area. It is not very tender to the touch, but is very instable when changing directions, or making quick movements. Although it is painful I am still able to run, and put almost all my weight on it. Any thoughts on diagnosis, treatment, etc?

You might want to get yourself checked for gout I am a chronic sufferer and your symptoms mirror mine very closely, even to the variying pain points
Submitted 6 weeks 1 day ago by Stu GreenBefore I was diagnosed correctly I also had an X-ray which showed nothing, the pain is caused by Uric acid crystals forming in the joints which cause swelling and inflammation. the root causes are varied - not just alcohol derived - and is usually linked to elevated purine levels.
I am perscribed allopurinol which stabalizes the condition and diclophenic sodium for attacks.
